Knighthood for Roke Manor Research's Chairman

Roke Manor Research's Chairman, Dr John Taylor, has been awarded a knighthood in the New Year Honours list. Dr Taylor, 60, was recognised for his services to scientific research.

Sir John TaylorDr John Taylor was formerly Director General of Research Councils in the UK Office of Science and Technology, and Chairman of Research Councils UK. He was responsible for the UK government science budget of £3 billion per year and advised the Secretary of State for trade and industry on all aspects of the science budget.

Commenting on his knighthood, Sir John Taylor said:

"I am delighted and honoured to receive this award. Scientific research and the innovative technology that comes from it is hugely important for the UK, and so I am exceptionally pleased that it is an area recognised in the New Year Honours list."
