Our Cellular Product Development Expertise now available to other Manufacturers

Monday, 31 October 2005 00:00

After more than 15 years, manufacturers will get access to Roke Manor Research's world-class cellular design and development capability.

"For years, companies have wanted to use our expertise but have been unable to do so because of the exclusive agreement with Siemens, our parent company. However, with the sale of Siemens' Mobile Division to BenQ, that agreement ended", commented David Smith, Director of Wireless Technology at Roke Manor Research.

Roke Manor Research’s current cellular terminal and data card designs represent the latest advances in wireless communications technology for high-volume production. For example, it developed Siemens latest 3G SG75 and SXG75 handsets working closely with Siemens to integrate its electronics design with the mechanics and software to produce class-leading terminals for mass manufacture.

First shown at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, February 2005, it was the first to develop an HSDPA PC card (for Siemens) with downlink data rates of over 1.3 Mbps.

Roke Manor Research also developed the world’s first TD-SCDMA RF prototype. It has state of the art facilities for antenna design and evaluation – and a CTIA chamber for automated measurement of GSM and 3G handsets. Recently it added an EMC chamber for product development and compliance testing between 30 MHz and 18 GHz.

Roke Manor Research offers world-class (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) HSDPA development experience and services to other manufacturers to help accelerate their market-entry by up to nine months.

From full research and feasibility studies, system and module design to full product development and prime contracting - Roke Manor Research can tailor its cellular terminal and data card design services for manufacturers.
