Roke Announces New Version of Epsilon Radar Cross Section (RCS) Prediction Software

Monday, 23 June 2008 00:00

Roke Manor Research Limited, a Siemens company, will be promoting the latest version of their product, Epsilon™ at Farnborough Airshow, SBAC stand, July 14-20th.

Epsilon™ is a software package that predicts the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of electrically large targets directly from a computer model. It is highly versatile tool which provides fast and accurate RCS predictions in a wide range of applications. For example, manufacturers of aircraft, ships, land vehicles, and buildings use Epsilon™ to determine the radar signatures of their designs.

Features and benefits of this new release are detailed below:

  • Shorter run times due to multi-core processor support. Epsilon™ has always been able to make use of other networked computers and now it has the ability to make full use of computers with multi-core processors.
  • Flexible allocation of computer resources. Release 16 includes the ability to dynamically add or remove computers from the list of resources the Epsilon™ core solver can use. This allows a project team, for example, to shorten run times by allocating additional resources when not needed, such as overnight.
  • Time saving CAD tools. Additional CAD manipulation tools have been included to provide users with further capabilities to adjust CAD models within Epsilon™ itself. This saves time if errors are found as the model would not necessarily need to be re-imported.

In addition to conventional radar cross section predictions, Epsilon™ can also used to model the RCS of buildings and structures. Recently this has included the impact of wind turbines and wind farms on air traffic radar.

Epsilon™ is available under licence, subject to export control, or for use during stealth consultancy, counter stealth studies and any aspect of radar cross section technology or radar imaging.
