Roke Manor Research was pleased to welcome Gerald Howarth, the Shadow Defence Minister, to their site in Romsey last month. During his visit Mr Howarth met with the Managing Director of Roke, Dave Smith, and members of the Defence Account Team and was given a tour of the latest defence technologies under development at Roke. The tour included a demonstration of Roke’s electronic warfare suite, RESOLVE, which will soon be in service overseas. RESOLVE has been developed over several years and offers world leading on-the-march capability. Mr Howarth also saw a demonstration of the latest cutting-edge video analysis techniques - the visual Moving Target Indicator (MTI) system. Visual MTI automatically detects and quantifies the movement of vehicles and people from a video stream taken from an air vehicle. Visual MTI can be used in a ground station to increase operator efficiency, or else be deployed onboard a UAV for increased autonomy.
