Graduate Profile: Arun

"I joined Roke in September 2005 having completed a PhD in Wireless Communications Engineering at the University of Bristol.

"My experience at Roke so far has been wonderful"During my first year at Roke, I developed a state-of-the-art software modelling tool for a satellite navigation systems for an internal customer. In September 2006, I was seconded to an external customer’s site for six months to take on a leading role in their technical field trial for a multi-million pound commercial product. I gained an in-depth technical knowledge of the product itself whilst at the same time being an independent assessor on the commercial viability of this product. It was opportune for me to exercise my project management and decision making skills in order to minimise delays to completing the trial, managing risks as well as stakeholder interests.

When the Graduate Development Program ended, I embarked on a high profiled programme at Roke; Congestion Charging and Zone Enforcement. I am currently the Systems & Integration Test Manager as well as a Project Leader. A major part of my contribution to the project involved automating system-level testing and also providing test management and consultancy to the customer. This has proven to be very useful in managing project risks because user requirements were being defined more accurately therefore leading to better understanding of the product itself and also how the acceptance criteria could be met. I also manage a selected group of projects under the same programme.

Besides work, I enjoy swimming, reading, cooking and really love travelling. I am also a competitive Latin American dancer. At Roke, I was also the Chairman of the Roke Jubilee Gym from May 2006-June2009.

My experience at Roke so far has been wonderful. I have realised that Roke is an organisation that offers a diverse range of opportunities for its employees."
