Description

Mike Jones will be presenting at GNSS-10 with emphasis on GPS protection, but the technology that has been in service for many years is equally valid for the Galileo system as it comes into operation.

The use of GPS in the commercial world has exploded in recent years, and we now depend on GNSS for so many things in our everyday life. Emergency services, vehicle tracking, and even mobile phone infrastructure all depend on the availability of GPS. But, our increasing dependence on GPS carries a risk: GNSS systems are highly vulnerable to interference, both intentional and unintentional, due to the extremely low power of received satellite signals. GPS jammers are now widely available, and a new wave of criminal activity is emerging around this. There are solutions to the problem: existing GNSS receivers can be augmented with anti-jam capabilities, providing robust protection against threats.
