From implantable pacemakers to MRI scanners, hearing aids to monitoring and tracking solutions, Roke have innovated wireless protocols and solutions in some of the most challenging environments.

Our services range from developing wireless protocols and designing custom antennas for optimised RF communications through to pre-compliance testing to de-risk product certification. Roke also holds a numerous patents for wireless communications including body area networks and optimised data management.

We have provided clients with system level design and performance modelling of a telemetry protocol for an in-vitro pacemaker and feasibility studies on remote powering for passive RF implants.

System Optimisation and De-risking

Roke has extensive testing services to analyse and provide recommendation for system and component optimisation. Our world class engineers are experienced in optimising the use of COTS technology and developing products and devices built around OEM modular design.

For example, Roke have developed a contactless heart rate and respiration rate sensor using a unique combination of COTS modules. Recently, Roke tested a new tablet device that was demonstrating impaired 3G and bluetooth performance. Through its rigorous testing, Roke has able to advise on methods of system optimisation to improved the RF performance of the device.

The medical device industry is highly regulated and Roke works to the design and development requirements of ISO13485:2006 and is ISO 90001 registered.
