Roke Rows for Children in Need

Staff at Romsey-based science and engineering company, Roke, organised an indoor rowing competition to raise money for Children in Need.

'Let them eat cake.' Staff at Roke bake and sell cakes to raise money for Children in Need.Held in Roke's onsite gym, the competition involved employees paying three pounds to row for three minutes and compete against their colleagues for the title of fastest rower. In total, Roke employees rowed 28, 831 metres in 108 minutes, raising £205.

Staff also baked a wide selection of cakes to sell at the competition which helped to draw supporters in for the rowing, with all proceeds going to Children in Need. For the more health-conscious Roke laid on cereal bars and low-fat drinks.

On behalf of Roke’s gym committee, Janine Dann, said,

"our employees are always willing to go the extra mile to raise money for charity. Events like this enable us to raise much needed money for underprivileged children as well as boosting employee health and wellbeing."

In total, Roke raised £560 for Children in Need.
