Siemens Medal Award
Roke Manor Research, the Siemens electronic research and development centre in Hampshire, has presented the Sir William Siemens Medal to local school boy Philip Standing. Philip is a pupil at The Mountbatten School in Romsey. Roke Manor presented the Sir William Siemens Medal to Philip on November 25th at the school in recognition of his excellent achievements during his GCSE in Electronics.
The medal was presented by Paul Stein, managing director of Roke Manor Research: we are delighted to have this opportunity to put something back into the local community; to offer support and recognition of the hard work which pupils put into science and technology at school. We are keen to encourage more young people to take an interest and pursue career opportunities in these subjects. As well as the medal, which is engraved with his name, Philip also received a certificate and a £50 book token.
Philip was nominated for this award by Mr Brian Phillips, Head of Design and Technology Faculty at Mountbatten School. Philip displayed excellent determination during his GCSE, he has extended his knowledge substantially during this period and he clearly put in a lot of dedication and effort to succeed. It is wonderful when pupils are given such strong support with their studies from the industry.
