Roke Manor Research appoints new director
Roke Manor Research, the innovative solutions provider and contract R&D specialist owned by Siemens, has announced the appointment of David McDonald as Director of its Sensors and Wireless Division.
David, 44, will be initially responsible for developing Roke's sensors and wireless business whilst ensuring that customers expectations continue to be exceeded. From October 2007, as part of a wider re-organisation, he will take on a greater responsibility to ensure that Roke focuses clearly on those business sectors where the company can offer a real advantage to its customers.
He joins Roke from Selex Communications, a communications systems supplier for military and civil customers, where he was responsible for developing and delivering a wide range of communication technologies.
Roke's Managing Director, Dr David Smith, welcomed David to the team, saying:
"As part of our commitment to continually improving customer service, we will be focussing on clear business sectors which will be more closely aligned to our customers needs. Davids experience will ensure that we continue to balance technical innovation with commercial acumen to provide the most effective service to our customers."
Owned by Siemens and based in Romsey, Hampshire, Roke Manor Research is an innovative solutions provider and contract R&D specialist. It pioneers developments in electronic sensors, networks, and communications technology, providing products and services to Siemens businesses, Government departments and commercial customers. The company employs 478 people. Its orders for the financial year ending 30 September 2006 were £44.85m and turnover for the same period was £40.35 million.
