Find out more about our Wide Area Multilateration System:

Height monitoring

Aircraft heights measured to 10 feet at altitudes up to 41,000 feet.

Our monitors track over 1,000 flights each day in Europe.

Air traffic management

Our major support to Civil Aviation has been in providing equipment to the UK's National Air Traffic Services (NATS) and to EUROCONTROL as part of their Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM) programmes.

Increasing airspace capacity

The RVSM programmes allow aircraft to fly closer together in the upper airways (above FL290) and it is our multilateration solution which keeps a check on aircraft to make sure they maintain their height keeping performance.

Airborne video, web browsing, and phone calls

"Roke has been very flexible and offered good advice, [they] achieved a lot in a short space of time."

Head of SSM, DAS
EUROCONTROL

EUROCONTROL also benefited from our detailed knowledge of 3G communications when we demonstrated live video being transmitted from an aircraft to the ground. The system was designed to provide additional security for passengers and crew - but it can also allow passengers to use their mobile phones or browse the Internet during flight, and provide Air Traffic Control with an alternative to VHF communications.

Miniature Radar Altimeters

Our Miniature Radar Altimeters (MRAs) are used by various companies to perform a range of tasks. Primarily designed for the unmanned air vehicle (UAV) market, these small, low-cost, and lightweight units have been used on spacecraft and towed targets.
