Consultant Engineer – Cyber Security (DP104) x2

We are currently looking to recruit an innovative and enthusiastic contributor to networking, protocol and cyber-related customer-sponsored software and architecting projects, to decompose, research and analyse complex networking and security problems individually and as part of a small team, often validating solutions in software using real or virtual networking techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Research, consultancy, architecture and proof of concept tasks
  • Writing code in more than one software language in a rapid prototyping/research environment
  • Understanding real-world network and protocol deployments, and differentiating between theoretical and practical application
  • Good communications skills including ability to summarise, write and deliver clear and concise technical documents
  • A desire to learn and face a variety of technical challenges
  • Managing multiple projects and deadlines

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A minimum of 2:1 bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or other related discipline
  • Broad knowledge and experience of current IP networking, ideally including protocol design experience and protocol security analysis.
  • Good software skills
  • A good awareness of Internet and system security
  • The ability to think on ones feet and apply a wide variety of disparate knowledge and approaches to technical problems
  • Software languages
  • Cyber threat awareness
  • Social networking/apps etc

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be willing to undergo, and eligible to achieve a high level of HMG security clearance (prior to appointment). As a result, candidates must hold a British passport and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
