Senior Engineer – Vision Processing (DP114)

To provide support to and work with the rest of the vision team at Roke to deliver novel vision processing algorithms and prototype systems which could lead to future product development.

As well as strong technical skills and capabilities applicants must have good communications skills (written and verbal), the ability to work either within a team environment or alone if necessary, and be able to demonstrate excellent problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering support to projects - development and implementation of vision processing and mathematical algorithms
  • Real time (frame-rate) software development in C/ C++, integration and testing with legacy algorithms
  • Setting up trials to demonstrate capability and fully test the solutions
  • Technical support to customer meetings
  • Technical support to bids
  • Application of engineering processes to support future production development where required

Education

  • Honours degree (2:1 minimum) in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics.
  • MEng or MSc is desirable.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Programming in C/C++, development of real-time (frame-rate) software, vision processing or image processing expertise
  • Mathematical algorithm development
  • An understanding of 3D vision algorithms is desirable
  • Understanding of camera hardware and associated systems
  • Set up of real world vision systems for trials and data gathering activities
  • Application of the skills above in one or more of the following domain: defence surveillance and ISTAR, medical and industrial applications

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be willing to undergo, and eligible to achieve a high level of HMG security clearance (prior to appointment). As a result, candidates must hold a British passport and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
