Roke’s Latest Contracts Cement Global Recognition

As the UK Chancellor announces further funding for defence innovation in the UK, Roke is already one step ahead: innovating and showcasing the UK’s leadership and capability within the defence ecosystem.

As a part of the UK defence industry continuing to demonstrate its world-class capabilities, Roke has secured a series of significant contracts this last quarter. Highlighting the country’s leadership in Electromagnetic Warfare (EW), advanced sensor networks, and Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) dominance, these contracts, worth nearly a combined £23 million, demonstrate the global trust in British innovation and expertise…all the while reinforcing the UK’s reputation as a hub for cutting-edge defence technology.

Electromagnetic Warfare capabilities into Joint Expeditionary Force Nations

Roke has secured an additional £6.4m of sales of its PERCEIVE MR® and RESOLVE Electromagnetic Surveillance (ES) products, including our single Electromagnetic Environment (EME) visualisation and management tool, VIPER-PREFIX, into JEF nations.

Paul MacGregor, MD of Roke said:

“We see these additional sales of capability, including a new customer for Perceive, as positive reinforcement of our collaborative approach to product development and enhancement. Resolve and Perceive continue to deliver in a peer, complex, operational environment providing our Users with decision advantage in the Electromagnetic Spectrum.”

Roke continues to evolve both its EME management toolset and sensor/effector products to assure operational advantage to our Users.

AUKUS Investment in Game-Changing Electromagnetic Spectrum Technology

In another major win, Roke has secured £880,000 in funding from AUKUS – the trilateral security pact between the UK, the US, and Australia – to develop its Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) capability. This “smart jamming” technology uses wideband analogue and digital noise cancellation techniques, which allow for active and passive Radio Frequency (RF) collaboration in contested and congested environments.

Ensuring secure communications in highly contested RF environments has been one of the greatest challenges in modern defence. Roke’s STAR innovation represents a potential breakthrough Steve Hill, Assistant Director CEMA, explains:

“For decades, the ability to ensure communications in contested and congested RF environments has been a holy grail. STAR is one of a number of Roke’s game-changing innovations that will change the way we operate in the EMS. We welcome the opportunity to prove this into AUKUS.”

This funding reinforces the UK’s commitment to both global defence collaborations and spend-increase, but also showcases the strength of its innovation in next-generation electronic warfare solutions with its important allies.

Strengthening the UK’s Defence Sensor Network

Roke’s success continues with the award of a £16 million UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) contract to deliver the ‘Remote Sensor Network’ programme into Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S). ‘Remote Sensor Network’ is a 7-year programme that will deliver software and hardware solutions that integrate sensors, deciders and effectors to digitally transform Human Machine Teams, reduce cognitive burden and accelerate decision making at the tactical edge.

The ‘Remote Sensor Network’ builds upon Roke’s successful delivery of a previous 4-year programme meaning Roke’s ability to scale, adapt, and build long-term partnerships with the UK MoD has been recognised once again and it’s seen as a massive win for us all.

A Bright Future for UK Defence Innovation

These contract wins showcase something more, however, and that is that the world is increasingly recognising the skills, innovation, and expertise of the UK defence industry. Roke’s continued success is a clear recognition of the strength of British engineering and technology, positioning the UK as a leader in advanced defence solutions.

Global security challenges are both increasing and evolving, and British defence organisations are proving that they have the capability to deliver cutting-edge solutions at scale, with Roke being no exception. We’re securing the UK’s place as a leader in modern defence technology.

With these wins, Roke isn’t just strengthening its own portfolio and demonstrating its innovation for the future right now – it’s reinforcing the UK’s reputation as a key player in the future of global defence, and we’re proud for you all to have been a part of it!
