One Roke

We are one Roke. Our strength comes from our diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We all have a responsibility to create an environment where we have the freedom, support and trust to succeed - where we are encouraged to bring our whole self to work.

Wellbeing support

The health and wellbeing of our employees is important to us. We invest time and effort in this to ensure that we preserve, protect and promote a healthy workplace through initiatives, including our Mental Health First Aiders and our Healthy Workplace Employee Resource Group.

Employee Resource Groups

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) connect colleagues together around a unifying mission raising awareness of issues such as gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation. Our ERG communities provide opportunities for mentoring, volunteerism, networking, development and community involvement.

Majority Ethnic: Majority Ethnic ERG aims to create a working environment where people from all ethnic backgrounds feel comfortable, appreciated and supported. This ERG aims to recognise and celebrate the different subcultures/groups and experiences that exist within the Roke community to unlock diversity of thought and educate on positive difference and change.

Women in Roke: Women in Roke’s goal is to achieve gender balance within Roke, making it an even better place for women to work. The ERG focuses on improving gender balance and improving the workplace for women as a minority in the male dominated engineering sector. Membership is encouraged regardless of gender – anyone can help challenge gender bias in the STEM community.

Regional Diversity Group: The Regional Diversity and Inclusion ERG provides monthly meetings surrounding current topics that will contribute to inspiring and educating Roke's employees'. Topics that have been covered so far range from unconscious bias to the multi-generational workforce. We also strive to be a safe space for discussion and support on these monthly topics.

Veterans: This group is open to everyone in Roke, but with a focus of bringing all retired tri-service personnel, reservists and champions of military veterans together. The Roke Veterans Network (RVN) is an internal network of serving Reservists and retired Service Personnel. It provides support to service leavers who are transitioning from service life to Roke and aims to help provide a soft landing out of the services.

Neurodiversity: The Neurodiversity ERG focus on supporting current and potential Rokies by ensuring Roke is a safe environment for neurodivergent employees to be their true selves. It also welcomes Roke employees who want to learn more about how to support family, friends, or colleagues who have neurodivergent conditions.

Inspire: To further support our employees, a support network has been established to represent all of the LGBTQ+ identities we have at Roke. Inspire aims to provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ people to express concerns, issues, and questions and offer support and advice to any employees who have questions around sexual orientation or gender identity, for themselves or for another person, be it a colleague, family member, or friend.

Gender pay report 2023

Roke engineer solutions that safeguard and protect in an uncertain and increasingly connected world. We do this by investing in excellent people who take pride in their work and promote an open, friendly and trusted environment where their abilities will be recognised and rewarded. We recognise that our culture must be one that allows our people to be themselves and excel, regardless of gender.
