Roke is proud to announce that we have been awarded a key contract as part of the UK government’s £155 million investment to strengthen national Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) resilience.
This national programme aims to safeguard the essential services that underpin daily life in the UK – from communications and transport to financial networks and critical national infrastructure. It reflects a significant step forward in protecting against threats such as jamming, spoofing and accidental outages, while building a more resilient, future-ready PNT ecosystem.
As part of this contract, Roke will apply its world-leading expertise in resilient PNT technologies, including our Nav-Sync Pulse solution – the world’s smallest eLoran antenna and receiver.
Nav-Sync Pulse provides resilient positioning, navigation and timing when GNSS cannot be trusted, using specialised algorithms to assure performance.
At just 55mm, it delivers industry-leading miniaturisation for low-SWaP deployment, seamless integration as a GNSS alternative, and access to Roke’s four decades of eLoran experience and purpose-built test facilities.
Unlike alternative PNT resilience solutions, eLoran offers jam-resistant, ground-based signals that remain operational even in GNSS-denied environments—making Nav-Sync Pulse a critical enabler for continuity and compliance.
This award further strengthens Roke’s role in enabling the UK to maintain resilient and independent alternative PNT, supporting sectors such as civil, military, emergency services, maritime, telecoms, transport, and financial services where trusted navigation and timing are essential.
Nav-Sync Pulse is designed to give integrators immediate impact by easily adding alternate PNT, offering a cost-effective, compliant solution that minimises downtime and safeguards critical operations.
UK Science Minister Lord Vallance said:
“Enhanced Long-Range Navigation is a great technology and a crucial safety net, protecting the UK against jammers and spoofers who threaten the global infrastructure which guides our journeys and keeps us safe.
As one of the beneficiaries of this government’s £71 million investment in eLoran, Roke is producing best-in-class technology, cementing the UK’s position as a leader in the Positioning, Navigation, and Timing technologies that are fundamental to a modern economy and society.”
In the government press release about the initiative, our Defence Director Chris Squier stated:
“We welcome the UK government’s decision to fund and establish a national eLoran programme as a cornerstone of resilient Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) infrastructure. This landmark initiative safeguards critical services against satellite disruptions and underscores the UK’s global leadership in PNT capability.
Through the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s (DSIT) strategic investment in Roke’s world-leading, ultra-compact eLoran antenna and receiver technologies, British industry is driving innovation at the forefront of resilience.”
We look forward to working closely with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and wider partners as we help deliver this important national capability.
